The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 235 parcels of cannabis sativa weighing 200.7 kgs from the home of a man now at large.
The Adamawa State Commander of the NDLEA, Yakubu Kibo, told newsmen in Yola that the parcels were found at Lafia town in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State, in the home of one Alhaji Ali who escaped arrest.
Cannabis sativa, otherwise called Indian hemp, is widely used across the state for its mind-altering properties, constituting drug use challenges that are a matter of concern to parents and security agencies.
The NDLEA state commander who displayed the seized substance and paraded two suspected drug dealers at the state command headquarters in Jimeta, assured that the NDLEA would continue to pursue the runaway Ali until he is apprehended and made to answer for the prohibited substance.
“He is currently at large but we will get him. We will remain in pursuit of him for as long as it takes us to find and arrest him to face the law,” Kibo asserted.
Speaking on the two youths arrested for drug dealings, Kibo identified 21-year-old Victor Abel, arrested from Vunuklan, and 25-year-old Bala Aminu, picked from the Jimeta Modern Market, both in the Yola capital city, as two suspected drug dealers supplying the populace with prohibited drugs.
He said the two would be charged and prosecuted according to the law and appealed to members of the general public to help in whatever way they can in the fight against illicit drug dealings.
