Police have busted a cannabis factory after receiving a tip-off. Reports the Stoke Sentinel
Officers carried out the raid at an address in Bedford Street, Crewe, this morning (May 2).
They seized more than 100 plants and equipment as an investigation to catch those behind the drugs farm continues.
The bust came as the price of cannabis has reportedly soared over the last few weeks as users smoke during lockdown.
The cost for an ounce of weed is said to have spiked to around £250 in some parts of the pandemic-hit UK, up over £100 from its usual price.
Users are also believed to have been bulk buying amidst concerns over lockdown laws affecting the delivery of their goods.
One cannabis dealer told The Sun that he was making “bags smaller” to try to avoid putting prices up too high, he added: “At the moment the cost has gone up in line with the demand.
“I know other dealers are really having to put up the cost because they are running out of their stock.
