A young man and boy’s alleged bid to bring cannabis into Queensland – as police monitor the border with NSW – has led to the discovery of more than $800,000 of the drug.

Police stopped the duo in their ute on Tuesday morning on the Mount Lindesay Highway at Rathdowney as they re-entered Queensland, amid a closure of the border as part of COVID-19 restrictions.

It’s alleged officers discovered about 4.47kg of cannabis in sealed bags stuffed in two pillowcases on the back seat of the Toyota Hilux, which was occupied by the 21 year old and 16 year old.

The discovery led to a raids on a Lindsay Creek property in NSW, when a further 5kg of cannabis, 170 cannabis plants and more than $10,000 cash was discovered.
