Troopers stopped two vehicles, found hockey bags filled with pot

MAYFIELD — Two brothers from northern New York were arrested Thursday in Mayfield after state police said they discovered 471 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Tevin L. Terrance, 27, and Tyren A. Terrance, 25, both of Akwesasne, were arrested on charges of first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, and issued tickets to appear in Mayfield Town Court on Sept. 15.

State police said that troopers stopped two vehicles on Route 30 at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, after troopers said the drivers were observed committing numerous traffic violations.

While interviewing the drivers, troopers said they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of each vehicle. A search of each vehicle was conducted, and revealed multiple hockey bags full of marijuana. Between the two vehicles, troopers said the total weight of marijuana was 471 pounds.
