UK: Couple Get Suspended Sentences For Loft Grow

A couple arrested after police found a cannabis grow in the loft of a Clifton home have been given suspended prison sentences.

Officers discovered a grow of 12 plants after executing a warrant at an address in Meadowvale Crescent on 4 January 2018.

Jordan Walker, 23, and Jade Lawrence, 29, who were at the address were arrested.

Walker, of Clifton, pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis.

He was handed a 15-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and must complete 240 hours of unpaid work.

Lawrence, of Clifton, was given a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years after pleading guilty to the production of cannabis and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

She was also ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and to complete 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Inspector James Walker, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The illegal production and supply of drugs will not be tolerated in our communities. “That’s why we are as committed as ever to taking drugs off our streets and pursuing those involved in their production and distribution.”

Cannabis is a Class B drug, the supply of which is punishable by up to 14 years in prison, an unlimited fine or both.
