A Moroccan national accused of smuggling 4,000 pounds of hashish into Spain was arrested after an eight-order surveillance operation and police chase in Andalusia.

The suspect, identified only as S.E.O., has been charged with smuggling, crimes against public health and road safety, and an attack on the integrity of law enforcement officers.

Video by a customs surveillance unit detected a suspicious vessel approximately 24 miles south of the coast of Almería, a municipality in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain on the afternoon of July 6. The surveillance unit detected a boat without lights on approaching the coast at high speed, the police report states.
