Nepal, Makawanpur district, 2 arrested with 273 kilos of hash

MAKAWANPUR: Police arrested two persons with 273 kilograms of hashish and 190 kilograms of marijuana powder from Kailash Rural Municipality-1 of Makawanpur district on Wednesday.

Police have identified the arrestees as Chandra Bahadur Ghalan (43) aka Mewa of Kailash-1 and Jivan Tamang aka Pashupati of Gajuri Rural Municipality-8 of Dhading district.

Acting on a special tip-off, a team of police deployed under the leadership of Police Inspector Pawan Kumar Jha from Provincial Police Office, Makawanpur, raided the house belonging to Ghalan and seized the hashish packaged in 267 pouches.

The team also confiscated marijuana powder kept in five sacks hidden in his shed, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mukesh Kumar Singh.

According to the law, the arrestees will be subject to two to 10 years of imprisonment or Rs 15,000-100,000 cash in fine or both.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, Makawanpur District Police Office said.
