Two men from Honduras were arrested at an illegal marijuana grow site in Yankee Hill. Butte County deputies say they eradicated over 1,300 marijuana plants.

On Thursday, Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Special Enforcement Unit served a search warrant on a property on Rich Gulch Road in Yankee Hill.

When units arrived, they say found two males sleeping inside a makeshift cabin. They were both detained with incident.

Deputies learned the suspects had been tending to marijuana plants which were being grown inside eight large greenhouses.

In total, deputies eradicated 1, 354 marijuana plants from the grow sites and found evidence that the property had been used for the cultivation of marijuana previously.

Juan Cortez, 24, and Nelzon Ramirez, 33, both from Honduras, were both arrested for illegal cultivation of marijuana, and possession of marijuana for sale.
