POLICE have allegedly found almost 20 kilograms of cannabis in the back of a ute in southern New South Wales.

Officers intercepted the silver Holden SS Commodore ute on the Sturt Highway at Borambola, 30 kilometres east of Wagga Wagga, about 3pm on Friday.

Two men from the Central Coast, aged 45 and 46, were spoken to by police before officers searched the vehicle.

The men were allegedly travelling north along the Sturt Highway towards the Hume Highway when they were pulled over.

Both the 46-year-old driver and his passenger were arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.

The driver has been charged with supplying cannabis, supplying a prohibited drug, and resisting/hindering  police, while his passenger is charged with supplying cannabis and a prohibited drug.

Both men were granted conditional bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 19 June 2019.

The bust near Wagga came two hours after police allegedly found 42 bags of cannabis in the back of a Toyota Hilux in Sydney’s southeast.
