USA: Quincy MA Police Seize 254lbs Weed + $300K In cash

The Patriot Ledger reports……..QUINCY — Police officers seized a total of 254 pounds of illegal marijuana and nearly $300,000 in cash after an investigation into a bulk marijuana distribution run by a Quincy resident.

Police were investigating 148 Oxenbridge Road resident Yao Quan Mai when they saw him put a delivery box into the back of his BMW and drive away from his house. Detectives asked officers to stop his car, because they knew he had a revoked drivers license, police said.

When officers asked for identification, police said Mai gave them the information of a family member. When questioned, police said Mai admitted his real identity to the detectives. He was arrested for operating with a revoked license and misleading a police investigation.

Police then searched his car and found 36 pounds of marijuana in heat-sealed bags, they said. Detectives then applied for three search warrants and used them to search the Oxenbridge Road home and two other residences.

Inside, they seized approximately 254 pounds of marijuana, which police estimate to be worth about $1 million. They also found almost $300,000 in cash.

Mai was charged with trafficking more than 100 pounds of marijuana.
