FORT DODGE – Police checked on the welfare of a Fort Dodge man and discovered a marijuana growing operation.

On Tuesday, January 28th, 2020 at approximately 9:43 P.M. officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department responded to 1428 4th Ave North for a welfare check. It was also discovered that the individual had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Officer were allowed into the above mentioned residence to check on the male and ultimately did not locate anyone inside. In the course of checking the residence, officers observed what appeared to be marijuana plants and equipment used to aid in the manufacturing of marijuana. Officers and investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence regarding those items. During the execution of the search warrant multiple marijuana plants and items used to aid in the manufacturing of marijuana were seized.

A short time later officers and deputies with the Webster County Sheriff’s Office located the male subject in the 600 block of North 15th Street and he was taken into custody on his outstanding arrest warrant for Parole Violation.
As a result of the investigation thus far, 26‐year‐old Eric W. Gambill, Jr. of Fort Dodge, has been arrested on the following charges:

*Failure to Affix Drug Stamp (5 counts) – D Felony

*Intent to Manufacture/Deliver Marijuana Under 50 Kg (5 counts) – D Felony
Gambill made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court on Thursday, January 30.
