Nigeria: Ondo NDLEA seizes 14.3 tonnes of Indian hemp in “Operation Thunder Strike IV”

The Ondo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, on Tuesday, said it had seized 14.3 tonnes of cannabis sativa, also known as India hemp, in the state.

The agency also stated that two persons, Ohimai Ayodele and Ojeagbese Asabiya, were arrested in connection with the seizure.

The Commander of the NDLEA in the state, Mr Haruna Gagara, stated these at the headquarters of the command in Akure.

According to him, the joint task force of the agency in Ondo , Edo and Osun states, in collaboration with the men of the Nigerian Army, embarked for the operation last week and was able to recover huge quantity of cannabis in some towns and villages at the boundary of Edo and Ondo states.

Dagara noted that the seized cannabis had been destroyed by burning, adding that the development was an outcome of the Operation Thunder Strike IV, which was launched by the command in the state last week.
