It Isn’t Mine, Officer, Promise !….. Ocklawaha teen says weed in his car was someone else’s

n 18-year-old Ocklawaha man caught with marijuana in his vehicle said the drug belonged to someone who was taken to the hospital after overdosing on it.

Andrew Gonzalez-Murphy, of 7306 SE 177th Court, was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug equipment. He was pulled over Monday morning on East Highway 40 in Silver Springs after a Marion County sheriff’s lieutenant ran his license tag and discovered the registered owner’s license was suspended, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The lieutenant received permission to search the vehicle and found a metal box, commonly used to store money, behind the driver’s seat. Inside the box was a baggie containing a small amount of a green leafy substance, several pipes, a scale and several small baggies. The green leafy substance tested positive for the presence of THC and Fentanyl, the report said.

Gonzalez-Murphy told the lieutenant he had not opened the box. He said it belonged to another person who had overdosed while smoking marijuana. Gonzalez-Murphy said medics transferred the other person and the items were left behind in his car, according to the report.

Gonzalez-Murphy is the registered owner of the vehicle and the title was located in the box. A debit card with his name and an insurance card with his name were also in the box, the report said.

Gonzalez-Murphy was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Monday night on $3,000 bond. No court information was available.
