A Louisiana woman is facing an array of charges after the “cannabis-infused” cash she used to pay an inmate’s bail didn’t pass the smell test.
Stormy Lynn Parfait visited the Ashland jail on Friday to post a $5,000 bond, but once officials got a strong whiff of weed emanating from the wad of cash, they decided it would be prudent to search her car.
The investigation led to the discovery of another US$40,000 in cash, 100 Klonopin pills and a food-stamp card in someone else’s name, according to the Associated Press.
Police were reportedly able to obtain a search warrant for her home, where officers found four unattended children in addition to hundreds of more pills, marijuana, cocaine and various drug paraphernalia.
Charges against the 33-year-old woman include drug possession with the intent to distribute, taking contraband into a correctional facility and four counts of illegal use of a controlled substance in the presence of minors. The children have been taken into the custody of a relative for the time being.
